Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026·Respite Link — housing placement platform
This policy explains how Respite Link ("we", "us") handles information when you use this website, create an account, apply for housing, or communicate with the housing agencies and operators that use the platform. We designed the platform around one principle: we only collect what is needed to help you find and secure housing, and we share it only with the people involved in your placement.
Information we collect
- Account and contact information. When you create an account or respond to an outreach message, we collect your name, email address and phone number so we can identify you and contact you about your housing journey.
- Housing profile and qualification information. To match you with homes, the platform collects answers to housing questions — for example household situation, income and benefits, recovery and support needs, and background or legal history where an operator requires it. These details are used to determine which homes may accept you.
- Uploaded documents. You may upload identification and proof-of-income documents. Documents are used only to verify eligibility for the homes you apply to and are shared only with the operators you and your agency authorize.
- Consent records. When you authorize sharing of your information, the platform records what you agreed to, when, and by which method, so sharing can be verified and revoked.
- Tour and placement activity. We keep a record of your placement journey — referrals, tours requested and scheduled, approvals, reservations and move-ins — so you, your agency and the homes involved all see the same, accurate status.
- Communications. If you contact us or receive messages from the platform, we keep a record of the messages and their delivery status. Text messages you send in response may be linked to your record so the right person follows up with you.
- Usage and analytics. When you browse public pages, the platform records anonymous visit events (a random browser identifier plus the page and any marketing link parameters) to understand how the site is used. If you later sign in or identify yourself, your existing anonymous activity may be attached to your account. We do not sell this data.
How we use information
- Matching you with homes that fit your situation and budget.
- Coordinating referrals, tour scheduling, approvals, reservations and move-ins.
- Sending you messages by text and email about your application, tours and account.
- Letting housing agencies and operators work your case securely.
- Producing aggregate reports for funders and program oversight (without exposing your private details).
Integrations, including Meta Lead Ads
Respite Link connects with services that help reach and serve people looking for housing. When lead advertising is connected, contact and form information you submit in a Facebook or Instagram lead form — along with the consent you give when submitting it — may be received by the platform so a housing specialist can follow up with you. Submitting one of these forms is your agreement to be contacted about your housing inquiry. That information is used only to respond to your inquiry and is handled under this policy. Connection details and data received from these integrations are accessible only to authorized platform staff.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only as needed for your housing placement:
- Housing operators — the homes you are referred to, limited to what your consent record authorizes (for example contact details, income, documents or health context).
- Your agency or caseworker — the staff helping place you can see and manage your file.
- Service providers — companies that host the platform (cloud database and hosting), deliver text and email messages, process payments where applicable, and support advertising and lead delivery (such as Meta). These providers process information on our behalf to provide the service.
- Legal reasons — where required by law, court order or to protect someone's safety.
Exact home addresses are not shown publicly. They are shared with you only after you are approved and a tour is confirmed.
Security
The platform uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls based on your role, and database rules that limit who can read your information. Uploaded documents and sensitive answers are only visible to people directly involved in your placement. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to those who need it.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to support your housing journey, meet program reporting obligations and resolve disputes. Consent records, placement records and audit trails are retained because housing programs require them for verification. You can request deletion of information we are not required to keep.
Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. You can view and update most of your information in your account, or ask us to correct it.
- Consent. You choose what may be shared with housing operators, and you can revoke consent at any time — revocation stops new sharing immediately.
- Text messages. You can reply STOP to any text message to stop further texts; we honor opt-outs.
- Deletion. You can request deletion of your account and information we are not required to retain.
